FOCC’R NEWS:
APRIL 2nd, 2025
April is the COOLEST month.
“Joyce to the World!”
April 5th, 12-6pm
You are invited to our musical celebration in Cabbagetown Park, hosted by Joyce’s longtime songwriting partner, Elise Witt. There’s a whole bunch of us who knew her (and some who didn’t) getting together to sing her songs and celebrate her life. It’s a special reunion, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring this music into the space we’re preparing for her monument.
The afternoon starts with noon-time refreshments in the shade, with the kickoff on stage at 1pm. Expect surprises!
PERFORMING ON STAGE:
Elise Witt, with Mick Kinney
Johnny & Jeff Mosier
Evan Stepp & the Piners
Slim Chance and the Convicts
Barbara Panter
Naomi Lavender
& John Dirga
THERE’S MORE! We’ll have a selection of adorable Joyce buttons, stickers, and other neighborhood merchandise. Bring your own or get cold beverages from our Hospitality Tent.
BONUS: Our architects from Martin Rickles Studio will be present with a 3-d model of the new bandshell, and other exciting blueprints!
Do you like boring construction updates? What a coincidence!
Brookshire Amphitheatre recently passed the City of Atlanta Park Design Review hearing, and just received sign-off on the Compaction & Drainage Analysis for mitigating the adjacent raingarden. Next up, Watershed Management will be repairing the overflow basin in preparation for Department of Parks dredging and soil modification. Behind the scenes, principal Jennifer Martin is working on Structural Engineering, calculating equipment loads. Yay!

What the FOCC is Cupcake Deathmatch? Yesss, my children. We're inviting a live audience to watch the judges delicately dissect the professional bakers. Preferred seating for Friends. We're still updating the list of judges and entries, but we're thrilled to announce some new friends & faces, including Lia Picard (Conde Nast Traveller, NYT, WSJ), Chef Ryan Burke (97 Estoria), Luck Perkins (CNIA), and Willow E C Kastelburg (the award-winning "Cabbagetown Neighbor" newspaper).

MARGARITA MIXER
On April 22nd, Chef Jack Sobel will welcome you to Margarita Happy Hour! (RSVP Y'all)
Meet the Martin Rickles Studio creative design team in a business casual setting, with fine appetizers and deep conversation about Appalachian heritage skills, themes and symbols of folk music that are relevant today, and the source of Intrenchment Creek. Help us ensure that Cabbagetown preserves its rich legacy of music.
Guests receive a Welcome Margarita and fine appetizers in Agave Restaurant's Private Lounge. Enjoy engaging conversations as we explore some of the timeless themes in Joyce Brookshire's authentic folk music. Learn how your generous gift will build an enduring monument!
This is an unique opportunity to support community arts, making meaningful connections to Cabbagetown history? We are already so grateful for your past support. Maybe bring a friend who's FOCC curious?

Friends can enter the code “FOCCYES” to unlock tickets for a private cocktail table for two. AUGUST 1st, 2024
Greetings! Long time, no FOCC. Let’s get this thing rolling again!
We’ve found that box of old gift bags that need to go out and we could use some FOCC’ng help delivering a boat load of appreciation to the old FOCC’rs! They saved everybody’s butts with their efforts to support Cabbagetown Park during the pandemic! Some of them were never properly thanked for giving a FOCC.
We’re getting new gear! New ROASTED & STUFFED Members, please be patient while we collect shirt sizes and order it up. The minimum order is 12 on hats and 24 on shirts. Legacy FOCC’rs will get their choice of vintage gear or new merch, so it might take a brief minute to set this up. I promise it will be much less than four years this time, and you can call me if you lose your chill and need to yell: 404-222-0644.
Please complete a membership profile so we can manage your preferences (and ensure you receive the correct garment size).
